Outrage as Beloved South African DJ Gunned Down in the City of Johannesburg.
A renowned South African radio and club DJ has been murdered in the country's largest city Johannesburg, sending shockwaves across a country battling rampant crime.
Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was gunned down in the city centre on the afternoon of Tuesday.
Police said the forty-year-old media personality was accosted by a trio of assailants, with one opened fire on him before fleeing on foot.
The purpose behind the incident remains unclear and no suspects have been apprehended have been made, according to authorities.
How It Happened
Police revealed that Stock was targeted as he was exiting a premises close to the city center landmark.
He had spent several hours at the site supervising the setup of security systems, which had been illegally inhabited by unknown people, as per local media.
"Authorities believe the victim was confronted by three unidentified men after he parked his car, and they began shooting at him before escaping on foot," an official report said.
CCTV footage showed a suspect with dreadlocks and clad in what resembled a security uniform opening fire on Stock before running away.
The DJ sought to escape after he was wounded but collapsed on the opposite side of the road.
Officials noted that Stock had an weapon on his person and it was not a robbery during the assault.
Important clues, like cartridges, were recovered from the scene.

Officials are asking eyewitnesses who may have witnessed the attack to assist with the investigation.
"We know they walked a long distance after the shooting, and officers have been tracking them to find their destination," stated a police chief.

His family member, Nicole Stock, stated the loved ones are reeling to process his death.
"I am in shock. I don't have words," were her words.
"We know he was a champion for numerous individuals. He addressed issues courageously about subjects not many people were prepared to speak about. This is a tremendous loss."
She requested the community to not sharing graphic images from the incident, noting this was an extremely painful time, particularly for Stock's young family.

In a release, the channel he worked for affirmed Stock was known for his charisma, approachability and quick humor, adding that his memory "will endure".
