Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and ongoing offensive targeting the nation by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone close to the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any damage is uncertain and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.

Regional Interceptions

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house American military installations - said they have intercepted missiles in their airspace.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was targeting US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on the Islamic Republic carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on areas associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military reported it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the UAE stated that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses dealt with the missiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," it added.

Officials reported wreckage landed in a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some property damage and killing a civilian.

The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
