Franchise leads Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will reprise their roles in the upcoming Hunger Games film, Sunrise on the Reaping.
It has been confirmed that original stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are returning to their iconic characters in the newest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The film is currently in production.
An Important Return to Panem
The duo will once again portray Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the roles they originated. It is believed their cameos will probably be featured in a flash-forward sequence, given that the main film series concluded with their characters married and with children.
This marks the sixth cinematic outing in the blockbuster Hunger Games franchise.
The Source Material
Sunrise on the Reaping is based upon a recent book by author Suzanne Collins. It will be the second film set before the original story after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. For this project is Francis Lawrence, who has helmed most of the previous films in the series.
A New Era in Panem
The film's events are set roughly two decades prior to the first Hunger Games, spotlighting a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, destined to become Katniss's mentor, is featured as a tribute in the deadly 50th Hunger Games.
The film welcomes several notable actors in pivotal roles:
- Jesse Plemons steps into the role of Plutarch Heavensbee.
- Ralph Fiennes takes on the part of a earlier incarnation of the calculating President Snow.
