Arne Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Retains The Club's Backing Following PSV Eindhoven Humiliation

Arne Slot admitted that it's expected for doubts to be raised about his future after a further heavy loss against the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their 9th loss in 12 matches, marking the team's poorest streak after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough night at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I have got plenty of backing from management,” Slot remarked.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and get a victory naturally but when you're in a managerial role and struggling then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my position. It is not the first time I've found myself in a difficult position but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Talks with Club Management

Upon being questioned to expand on his dialogues with the club's leadership, Slot revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me constantly of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard exchanges I feel the confidence. But I haven’t spoken to them after this defeat yet so let’s see.”

Recurring Failings and Squad Response

Slot lamented recurring shortcomings from his team in their Champions League defeat, namely poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his assessment of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I do not. I’m saying that to everyone,” the midfielder said.

“It is unacceptable. I don't need to wait to consider it. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He added, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the side I follow. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team experiencing a period of this nature with outcomes like these.”

Jones finished, “However we continue to wear that badge on our chest. And until that badge is removed, we'll continue to battle.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad return to the top, show everyone again what this club is about and why people call it the greatest side in the planet.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
